Revenge on the 13th Floor is a small, brutal top-down shooter inspired by DOS-era classics, ASCII graphics, arcade shoot 'em ups, gloriously over-the-top '80s action movies... and an unhealthy amount of profanity!

THEY TOOK YOUR DAUGHTER.

THEY TOLD YOU TO FORGET HER.

BIG MISTAKE!

Armed with a gun and a questionable sense of self-preservation, you'll fight your way through a building full of people who really, really don't want you reaching the 13th floor. Fight through Campaign, Endless, and Horde modes, then create your own carnage with the built-in level editor and Steam Workshop support. NO MERCY!

OLD-SCHOOL VIOLENCE.

OLD-SCHOOL GRAPHICS.

Forget fancy polygons and realistic lighting. Everything here is made of ASCII characters, a handful of retro colors, and a considerable amount of bad intentions. Underneath that deliberately primitive presentation is a fast-paced, bloody shooter where positioning, ammunition, and quick reactions make all the difference.

THIRTEEN FLOORS.

ONE WAY UP.

THE ELEVATOR IS WAITING.

LEAVE NO ONE STANDING

  • ASCII graphics — Retro computer aesthetics, a 16-color palette, and optional CRT effects.

  • Procedural levels — Rooms, layouts, and enemy encounters that change between runs.

  • One life — Die, and you're back at the beginning. No second chances. No savegames.

  • Different weapons — Pistols, shotguns, automatic weapons, and a knife when things get desperate.

  • Enemies that fight back — They'll patrol, investigate, pursue, and shoot. Sometimes they'll even hit each other.

  • Limited ammunition — Make your shots count. Or find more bullets.

  • A final confrontation — Someone is waiting at the top of the building.

  • Level Editor — Create, test, play and share your own custom campaigns, with up to 20 floors and four interconnected sections per floor. Compatible with Steam Workshop.

  • Endless Mode — Survive the campaign to unlock an ongoing challenge.

  • Horde Mode — Take them all down with you!

  • Local Multiplayer — Revenge is better with a friend (or at least a little less lonely).

  • Achievements — Because revenge alone isn't enough.

Made with love, ASCII, questionable programming, and absolutely terrible anger management.

Note:

With Revenge on the 13th Floor (top-down ASCII action shooter, 4-bit), we think we're closing the small free "Retro Trilogy" 💾 that began with <Unknown_Terminal> (retro terminal mystery, 1-bit) and continued with KING 4 A DAY (chess-inspired roguelike, 2-bit). These games were all old ideas and forgotten prototypes that had been sitting in our ideas drawer for years. We simply dusted them off, spent some time on them in our spare time, and shared them as small experiments. Nothing ambitious, nothing revolutionary. Just a few projects made for the joy of creating, learning, and having fun.
